SS: What made you choose this career path?
CW: I moved to Dubai first, and when this opportunity came along, I realised it was best for me, and took it.

SS: What qualifications do you require for this job?
CW: Apart from educational qualifications and customer service experience, you have to be easy to get along with, have an outgoing personality, and enjoy meeting new people from all around the world.

SS: Describe your typical day at work.
CW: I get ready for the flight, get picked up by the crew bus, and attend a briefing session. We discuss topics regarding safety, security and service, then ride the bus to the plane.

Once we board the plane, we have to organise everything before the passengers arrive, and check security and safety equipment. Once passengers start boarding, we help them to their seats, give toys to little children, and prepare everyone for take off.

After take off, we start preparing for the meal service and serve the passengers, and then depending on how long the flight is, we get ready for landing. If we’re staying at the destination, we go to the hotel, or if it’s a really short flight, we just stay on the plane and go back to Dubai where we started.

SS: What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
CW: I love seeing the excitement of a person or a family travelling to a new destination. I also love travelling and meeting people from around the world.

SS: What is the single most challenging aspect of your job?
CW: Waking up in the middle of the night, and going on a 10-hour flight can be hard sometimes, but I get more and more used to it.

SS: What advice would you give to Skysurfers who wish to follow a similar career path?
CW: Being a part of the aviation industry is very exciting. Go for it, you’ll travel the world!
